Linux installation for simple remote servers

This description serves me as reminder for installing small Linux machines
which are to complete remote tasks in a hidden location.
Beside the basic installation, I also document further possibilities
for machines doing special tasks such as
allowing to browse the internet on the (high resolution) television screen.
The installation procedure is based on a Gentoo distribution.
It is useful for me and might help other people.
Feedback is always appreciated.
